HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana hosts Southland Conference-rival Nicholls in a pair of games Friday and Saturday at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field, wrapping up the series Sunday in Thibodaux, Louisiana.
 
First pitch is at 6 p.m. for both games in Hammond, including the Super Lion Saturday contest that will feature a baseball alumni reunion. Sunday's first pitch at Nicholls (15-23, 6-9 Southland) is scheduled for 1 p.m.
 
All three Lion (25-16, 12-6 Southland) baseball games can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU 90.9 FM, and worldwide online or through either the Radio FX or TuneIn apps. Southeastern senior right-hander Josh Green (5-2, 3.04) opposes Colonel senior left-hander Alex Ernestine (2-3, 5.65) in the series opener Friday at 6 p.m.

Saturday at 6 p.m., the Lions will send redshirt junior right-hander Carlisle Koestler (6-1, 2.19) to the mound opposite Nicholls senior righty Cayden Hatcher (2-4, 4.69).

Sunday at 1 p.m. Southeastern will counter Colonel junior right-hander Jake Bedevian (1-5, 4.94) in the series finale with junior right-hander Corey Gaconi (2-1, 5.40).
 
Cody Grosse (.311) and Drew Avans (.300) pace Southeastern's offensive attack. Avans leads the team with seven home runs and 18 stolen bases. Kyle Schimpf's 33 RBI rank third in the Southland.
 
The Lions are hitting .242 collectively, with 53 doubles, 12 triples and 26 home runs. Their 101 stolen bases rank second nationally. Southeastern's pitching staff, which has compiled a 3.70 ERA, has struck out 327 batters through 367.1 innings of work and issued the fifth-fewest walks per nine (2.67) in the nation. Opponents are hitting .246 off Lion pitching.
 
Southeastern has dropped six of its last seven games, while the Colonels have split their last four.
 
Brady Bell (.333) and Ethan Valdez (.319) are Nicholls' top hitters. Chet Niehaus leads the team with five home runs and Lee Clark owns a team-high 31 RBI. Valdez's five stolen bases are a team high.
 
Nicholls is hitting .264 as a team, with 68 doubles, 11 triples, 15 home runs and 23 stolen bases. The Colonels' pitching staff has combined for 4.92 ERA and 199 strikeouts in 338.2 innings pitched. Opponents are hitting .293 off Nicholls pitching.
 
Southeastern returns to Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field for a Southland Conference series against Stephen F. Austin, April 27-29.

ALUMNI REUNION
The annual reunion of Southeastern Louisiana baseball alumni is scheduled for Saturday and will be held in conjunction with Super Lion Saturday, a celebration of all things Southeastern Athletics.
 
A tailgate party on the first floor of the Strawberry Stadium parking garage is slated for 4 p.m. Food, drinks and an opportunity to sign up for the new S Club will be available at the reunion. Baseball alumni in attendance will be recognized in conjunction with the Southeastern-Colonels matchup.

Fans interested in becoming active supporters of the baseball program are encouraged to join the Diamond Club. Lion baseball alums are encouraged to join the exclusive S Club, which is restricted to Southeastern athletic letter winners. S Club members also gain membership in the Diamond Club.
