AUSTIN, Texas – A pair of 2018 newcomers for Southeastern Louisiana made their mark in the javelin Thursday at the 91
st Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the University of Texas campus.
Junior
Adrian Williams captured the men's event in Section B with a personal-best throw of 223 feet, 3 inches. Williams, who won by over nine feet, became the third straight Lion to pick up a win at the Texas Relays, following
Devin King (pole vault) in 2016 and
Alex Young (hammer throw) in 2017.
Freshman
Charlotte Wissing followed with a second-place finish in the women's Section B with a mark of 143-05. Liberty's Brenna Smith won at 151-0.
Competition continues Friday with junior
Stevon Crooks throwing the shot put at 10 a.m. Junior
Alexia Stein opens action for Southeastern Saturday in the discus at 10 a.m. with King in the pole vault at 3 p.m. and sophomore
Ashley Davis in the shot put at 4 p.m.
Another group of Southeastern throwers are set to start competition Friday at the Southern Miss Invitational at the Marshall Bell Track Complex in Hattiesburg, Mississippi with the men's and women's hammer and javelin scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Saturday's field events get underway at 11:30 a.m. with the track events starting at 12:10 p.m.
