Lions Host Tulane for Fireworks at the Pat, Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night

HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana hosts Tulane at 6 p.m. Tuesday for Fireworks at the Pat. The game is also a Cane's Challenge contest as well as Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.
 
Fireworks are scheduled throughout the game against Tulane (11-14) and when the Lions (18-9) score four or more runs, everyone in attendance wins a buy-one-get-one-free combo courtesy of Raising Cane's. Fans must present a game ticket and students must present a coupon at their local participating restaurant in order to claim the meal deal.
 
Discounted game tickets for Southeastern faculty and staff are available for purchase at the gate or in the athletics ticket office with a valid university ID.
 
The game can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU 90.9 FM, and worldwide online or through either the Radio FX or TuneIn apps. Fans can also keep up with all the action through streaming video, live statistics or by following @SLUathletics on Twitter.

The Lions will send junior right-hander Mason Knopp (1-1, 3.41) to the mound opposite Tulane sophomore righty Trent Johnson (1-1, 8.31).
 
Cody Grosse (.327), Drew Avans (.322) and Mike Taylor (.316) pace Southeastern's offensive attack. Avans leads the team with four home runs and 25 RBI. Grosse sits atop the Southland Conference with 13 stolen bases.
 
The Lions are hitting .257 collectively, with 42 doubles, six triples and 15 home runs. Their 72 stolen bases lead the nation. Southeastern's pitching staff has compiled a 3.61 ERA. They have struck out 207 batters through 241.2 innings of work and issued the third-fewest walks per game (2.57) in the nation. Opponents are hitting .236 off Lion pitching.
 
Southeastern took 2-of-3 from HBU over the weekend, winning its third straight conference series. Tulane also won 2-of-3 over the weekend, taking its conference-opening series against Cincinnati.
 
Jonathan Artigues (.344), Kody Hoese (.330) and Grant Witherspoon (.301) are the Green Wave's top hitters. Witherspoon leads the team with four home runs, 20 RBI and five stolen bases.
 
Tulane is hitting .254 as a team, with 53 doubles, four triples, 12 home runs and 23 stolen bases. Green Wave pitching has combined for a 5.37 ERA, striking out 174 batters in 221.1 innings. Opponents are hitting .263 off Tulane's pitchers.
 
Southeastern returns to the road Thursday, opening a Southland Conference series at McNeese in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

General Admission tickets are $9 for adults and $6 for children (ages 3-12). Tax is included in the price of admission. Southeastern students are admitted free with a valid university ID card.

Students, campus organizations and fans can earn points toward their Lion Up Loyalty account at any home game by checking in on the mobile app while in attendance.
