Lions to Pack the Pat versus Purdue, travel to face Mississippi State

HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana begins a busy stretch Tuesday, hosting Purdue at 6 p.m. for Pack the Pat before hitting the road for six consecutive games.
 
The first 200 Southeastern students through the gates Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field for Tuesday's game against the Boilermakers (9-4) will receive a free t-shirt and snack. They are also encouraged to sign-up at the marketing table for some fun promotions exclusively for students.
 
Southeastern (11-6) travels to Biloxi, Mississippi, Wednesday for a 6:30 p.m. game against No. 19-ranked Mississippi State (10-6) at MGM Park, the home of the Milwaukee Brewers' Double-A affiliate.
 
Wednesday's game can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU 90.9 FM, and worldwide online or through the TuneIn Radio app (search for KSLU). There will be no local radio coverage of Tuesday's game against Purdue. Fans can keep up with all the action through streaming video, live statistics or by following @SLUathletics on Twitter.

Southeastern won 2-of-3 from in-state rival New Orleans this past weekend, claiming the Pontchartrain Bowl trophy for the third time in four seasons.
 
Drew Avans (.340), Cody Grosse (.338) and Mike Taylor (.333) pace Southeastern's offensive attack. Bryce Steckler, a junior from Redmond, Washington ranks third nationally with three triples. Avans and Steckler are tied for the team lead with two home runs each. Kyle Schimpf, a junior from Covington, Louisiana, has driven in a team-high 14 runs. Avans ranks eighth nationally with 10 stolen bases.
 
As a team, the Lions are hitting .264, with 27 doubles, four triples and 10 home runs. Their 52 stolen bases are the second most in the nation, trailing leader UCF by one. Southeastern's pitching staff has compiled a 3.82 ERA, fanning 145 batters through 153 innings of work. Opponents are hitting .253 off Lion pitching.
 
Purdue dropped 2-of-3 this past weekend at Tulane. The Boilermakers play Wednesday at Nicholls, wrapping up their five-game visit to the Pelican State.
 
Skyler Hunter (.431), Jacson McGowan (.408), Nick Dalesandro (.388) and Evan Warden (.327) are Purdue's leading hitters. McGowan has produced a team-high six homers and 20 RBI. Dalesandro leads the club with five stolen bases.
 
The Boilermakers are hitting .307 as a team, with 23 doubles, three triples, 11 home runs and 12 steals. Purdue pitchers have combined for a 3.15 ERA, striking out 85 batters in 114.1 innings. Opponents are hitting .249 off the Boilermakers' arms.
 
Mississippi State won 2-of-3 over the weekend against Utah Valley and has split four games this season against Southland competition, defeating Nicholls and No. 21-ranked Sam Houston State, while dropping games to McNeese and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
 
Josh Hatcher (.351), Jake Mangum (.348) and Tanner Allen (.333) lead the Bulldogs at the plate. Hatcher has knocked a team-high three home runs, while Allen and Rowdey Jordan have driven in 11 runs each. Mangum has swiped a team-leading seven bases.
 
The Bulldogs are hitting .272 as a squad, with 26 doubles, four triples, 10 home runs and 15 stolen bases. Mississippi State pitchers have combined for a 3.00 ERA, whiffing 164 batters in only 144 innings. Opponents are hitting .222 against Bulldog pitching.
 
Southeastern continues its six-game road trip Friday in Beaumont, Texas, opening a three-game series at Southland Conference-foe Lamar.

General Admission tickets are $9 for adults and $6 for children (ages 3-12). Tax is included in the price of admission. Southeastern students are admitted free with a valid university ID card.
