Cutura took four shots, all on goal, while helping the defense record the clean sheet with four blocks.

Freshman midfielder Larissa Galvez Estrada recorded an assist in her first game as a Lady Lion.

Freshman goalkeeper Michaela Hawthorn made two saves in her collegiate debut.

Southeastern had 27 shots in the match, 16 on goal.

Southeastern and Lamar (2-0) are the lone remaining undefeated teams in the Southland Conference following the first weekend of the season.

Georgia State (0-2) opened the season with losses at Alabama-Birmingham (1-0) on Friday and at home against Kennesaw State (4-3) on Sunday. Redshirt-senior goalkeeper Brie Haynes made four saves against UAB while junior midfielder Monique Hundley put three shots on goal and freshman forward Alex Addington two. Addington, freshman forward Ashley Thomas and junior forward Caitlin Ray scored for the Panthers against Kennesaw State. Siobhan Wilson and Suzanne Arafa had assists. Haynes made three saves and Olivia Mitrovich one.

Georgia State is returning seven starters from a squad that went 5-6-6 overall in 2016 and finished 10th in the Sun Belt Conference at 2-4-4. The Panthers are picked to finish ninth in the conference in 2017.

Georgia State is 5-0 all-time against Southeastern, including a 2-0 win in Hammond in 2016. This will be the Lady Lions' first match at Georgia State since the 1996 season.

Alabama State lost 2-0 at home to Troy on Tuesday. Junior goalkeeper Gianna Guyot made six saves and has 22 on the season. Freshman forward Kayla Tillman had three shots on goal while senior forwards Lexi Krieger and Ariela Lewis had two apiece.

Lewis has the Lady Hornets' lone goal of the season while senior midfielder Inma Martinez has an assist.

Alabama State is coming off a Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament title and an 11-10-1 overall record in 2016. The Lady Hornets advanced to the NCAA Tournament before losing to South Carolina. Lewis, the SWAC Preseason Co-Offensive Player of the Year after scoring 17 goals and eight assists a season ago, leads seven returning starters. Krieger, who had eight goals in 2016, was also a first-team preseason all-conference selection, while Martinez, Guyot and sophomore defenders Alanna Manning and Mercedes Padilla were second team picks.

Southeastern leads the series against ASU, 4-0. This is the first meeting between the two programs since the Lady Lions took a 4-0 win at home in 2011.

QUOTES
Southeastern head coach Chris McBride:
On Georgia State:
"It's going to be a tough game. Georgia State came in here last year and beat us 2-0. Going into it, we know we are going to be up against a very good team, a very well-coached team. It's going to be a good test for us and it's nice to get a test for us early on in the season so we know what we are up against the rest of the season."

On Alabama State:
"They are a good team. A big thing for them is we play Friday and they don't. They are going to be a little fresher than us so they are going to come at us really hard the first 20, 30 minutes. Those minutes are going to be important for us and we're going to have to make sure we turn up on that day."
