Lions Travel to South Alabama

MOBILE, Ala. – Southeastern Louisiana looks to extend its seven-game winning streak Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. against South Alabama at Stanky Field.
 
The Lions (11-4) kicked off their winning streak, March 3, with a 4-3, walk-off victory over South Alabama (9-7) at the Cox Diamond Invitational in Pensacola, Florida.
 
Tuesday's game can be heard in the Hammond, Louisiana, area on KSLU 90.9 FM and worldwide online or through the TuneIn Radio app (search for KSLU). Fans can keep up with the game through live statistics or by following @SLUathletics on Twitter. Streaming video is also available.

Southeastern is coming off a sweep of New Orleans in the third annual Pontchartrain Bowl this past weekend.
 
At the plate, the Lions are led by Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week Taylor Schwaner. A junior from New Orleans, Louisiana, Schwaner is hitting .370 with five home runs, 24 RBIs and eight stolen bases. Other top hitters for Southeastern include Drew Avans (.340), Derrick Mount (.292) and Carson Crites (.286).
 
The Lions are hitting .244 as a team, with 25 doubles, five triples, 10 home runs and rank ninth nationally with 32 stolen bases. Southeastern's pitching staff enters the game with a 3.68 ERA, having fanned 120 batters through 132 innings of work. Opponents are hitting .240 off Lion pitching.
 
Mount (0-0, 4.50), a senior right-hander from Saucier, Mississippi, draws the starting nod for the Southeastern on the mound. South Alabama has not announced a starting pitcher.

Travis Swaggerty (.488), Eddie Papparella (.362) and Will Luft (.304) lead the Jaguars at the plate. Adam Wolfe owns a team-high three home runs and Papparella has driven in a team-best 18 runs. Swaggerty is South Alabama's leading base-stealing threat having swiped 8-of-9 so far this season.
 
The Jaguars are hitting .298 as a team, with 22 doubles, five triples, 15 home runs and 23 stolen bases. South Alabama's pitching staff has compiled a 3.97 ERA and 133 strikeouts in 136 innings, holding opponents to a .251 batting average.
 
Over the weekend, South Alabama split four games in Starkville, Mississippi, defeating Columbia twice and dropping a pair to host Mississippi State.
 
Southeastern returns home to host Lamar in a Southland Conference series Friday through Sunday. Fans are encouraged to help "Green Out" Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field on Friday for St. Patrick's Day and Sunday's contest is a Cane's Challenge game.
