Southeastern Places 72 on Southland Commissioner's Honor Roll

HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana placed 72 student-athletes on the Fall 2016 Southland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll, which the league office released on Friday.

To be eligible for inclusion on the commissioner's honor roll, student-athletes must have posted a Fall 2016 semester GPA of 3.0 or higher. The sports represented on the Fall list include football, soccer, volleyball and cross country.

The Lion football team placed 22 student-athletes on the honor roll. Leading the way was senior linebacker Tre' Bennett, who earned Southland All-Academic honors earlier this month. Bennett was one of four All-Southland Lions on the honor roll, along with Max Lyons, Anthony Murphy Jr. and Jon Taylor.

The Southeastern soccer team also had 22 representatives on the honor roll. Senior Casey Peacock, an All-Southland Conference and Southland All-Academic selection, was one of the Lady Lions to make the list.

The cross country program placed 19 student-athletes on the honor roll. Highlighting the six Lions and 13 Lions listed was junior Clarissa Smith, a first team All-Louisiana selection.

Rounding out the Southeastern honor roll contingent were nine volleyball student-athletes. Two of the team's top attackers in seniors Landry Bullock and Parrie Hartley, along with sophomore digs leader Monica Ramon were among the Lady Lions listed.

A total of 1,008 student-athletes from the league's 13 institutions were named to the Southland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll. Abilene Christian led all schools with 104 representatives.
