HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana Lady Lions, coming off a split of their opening weekend on the road, begin their home schedule against Arkansas State Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Southeastern Soccer Complex.
Southeastern (1-1) opened with a 4-1 loss at Memphis on Friday before taking a 2-0 win at Jackson State Sunday afternoon. Arkansas State (0-1), meanwhile, dropped a 1-0 decision to Southern Mississippi on Sunday.
After Thursday's match, the Lady Lions will host another Sun Belt member in ULM on Sunday.
"We're looking forward to our home opener," Southeastern head coach
Blake Hornbuckle said. "We invite everybody to come out and see us play and support the Lady Lions. We'll face two very talented Sun Belt teams this weekend. It will be a tough weekend that we look forward to playing."
Southeastern was led in its first two games by junior midfielder
Maggie Ramsey and sophomore midfielder
Vanessa Arzaluz, the Southland Conference's offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively. Ramsey scored both of the Lady Lions' goals on Sunday and finished the weekend with a team-high 10 shots, four on goal. She leads the conference in goals, points and shots taken. Arzaluz scored Southeastern's lone goal on Friday.

Maddie Kresevic had an assist on Ramsey's first goal against Jackson State. Freshman midfielder
Linda Karlsson took seven shots over the two matches while senior midfielder
Casey Peacock and sophomore midfielder
Payton Colson had six shots each. Southeastern currently ranks first in the league with 45 shots taken and is tied for first with Central Arkansas with three goals.
Defensively, senior goalkeeper
Hope Sabadash made 11 saves while allowing four goals in the opening week. The shutout of Jackson State was the 25
th of her career, moving her into sole possession of second place on the Lady Lions' all-time list.
Southeastern will be taking on an Arkansas State squad returning 13 letterwinners and six starters from 2015. The Red Wolves finished head coach Brian Dooley's first season at 3-14-1 overall, coming in ninth in the Sun Belt at 1-7-1.
Sophomore midfielder Taylor Schneider, a transfer from Illinois State, and senior defender Katherine Padgett have taken a team-high three shots for Arkansas State. Padgett and sophomore forward Arianna Delli Carpini tied for third on the team with two goals scored in 2015 while Padgett and junior midfielder/forward Taylor Carter also tied for third with three assists.
Carter and junior forward Jacqueline Greer have each taken a shot on goal and two shots overall this season while freshman defender Dana O'Boye has taken two shots. Sophomore goalkeeper Kelsey Ponder has allowed one goal while making eight saves.
Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity will host a tailgate for students prior to the match. Admission is free to all Southeastern home soccer matches.
