HAMMOND, La. – One of the world's largest sportswear manufactures, adidas®, will serve as the Official Athletic Apparel Provider for Southeastern Louisiana University Athletics through 2021, SLU Director of Athletics
Jay Artigues announced on Friday.
Southeastern Athletics and adidas® will continue a long-time relationship. Artigues is pleased to have adidas® provide all manners of sportswear for the student-athletes that represent the university in 15 Division I sports.
"We're extremely excited to continue working with adidas®," Artigues commented. "Several other companies were interested, but adidas® showed us its commitment to Southeastern Athletics."
In addition to providing Southeastern athletic programs with footwear and apparel, as well as other accessories and equipment through the adidas® Team Program, adidas® will provide an annual apparel/equipment credit and incentives for success on the field for all of Southeastern teams.
Southeastern will refer to adidas® as an Official Corporate Sponsor, prominently displaying the company's logo in all promotional materials and at athletic facilities among other incentives.
Artigues points not only to the relationship that has been fostered over the past decade-plus, but the success the Lions and Lady Lions have displayed over the past several seasons to why Southeastern Athletics was an attractive partner for adidas®.
"Our department has grown so much and been successful over the past several seasons," Artigues said. "We are appreciative to adidas® for recognizing our growth and success by agreeing to our best-ever apparel provider deal. The credit goes to our student-athletes and coaches for the hard work and dedication they have put in on the field, in the classroom and in the community."
During Artigues' three years as Director of Athletics, Southeastern has won eight Southland Conference Championships. The SLU football, baseball and soccer programs have each made multiple trips to the NCAA Championships, while the track program has produced several All-Americans, including 2016 NCAA Indoor weight throw champion Alex Young.
