NATCHITOCHES, La. – Southland Conference-leading Southeastern Louisiana travels to face Northwestern State this weekend in a three-game series at Brown-Stroud Field. Games are slated for 6:30 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.

Southeastern (23-7, 11-1 Southland) is coming off a 7-6 win Tuesday in New Orleans, Louisiana, over No. 27-ranked Tulane. The Lions, who defeated the Green Wave, 13-4, on March 2 in Hammond, Louisiana, swept the season series from Tulane for the first time since the 1993 season.
Five everyday players are hitting .300 or better, including
Jameson Fisher (.510),
Sam Roberson (.333),
Webb Bobo (.329),
Brennan Breaud (.327) and
Carson Crites (.302). Fisher also leads the squad with eight home runs and 39 RBIs. Southeastern is hitting .307 as a team with 51 doubles, 12 triples, 28 home runs and 55 stolen bases.
Fisher, the Lions' first baseman, is the top offensive threat in the nation, leading college baseball in both batting average and on-base percentage (.618). The junior from Zachary, Louisiana, ranks fourth nationally with an .854 slugging percentage.
Southeastern's pitching staff enters the week with a 2.28 ERA, the second lowest in the nation, and has fanned 269 batters through 264.1 innings of work. Opponents are hitting .215 off Lion pitching.
Left-hander
Kyle Cedotal (4-3, 1.16) draws the starting assignment for the Lions in the opener. The senior from Denham Springs, Louisiana, is fifth nationally in complete games (2), sixth in WHIP (0.72) and 11th in strikeouts (59). He will be opposed Friday by junior right-hander Adam Oller (3-0, 1.42) for the Demons.
Saturday the Lions will send sophomore right-hander
Mac Sceroler (4-2, 2.43) to the mound opposite Northwestern State senior lefty Chase Hymel (2-3, 3.08).
Senior southpaw
Domenick Carlini (4-0, 1.25) draws the starting nod for Southeastern in Sunday's finale against Demon junior right-hander Evan Tidwell (3-2, 2.82).
Northwestern State's pitching staff has compiled a 3.31 ERA, fanning 150 batters in 258.1 innings of work. Opponents are hitting .251 off Demon pitching.
Brett Underwood (.284), David Fry (.277) and Daniel Garner (.274) lead the Demons' offensive attack. Fry, who leads the squad with four home runs, is tied with Garner for the team lead in doubles (11). Matthew Alford's 21 RBIs are tops on the team, while Nick Heath leads the conference with 19 stolen bases.
The Demons are hitting .249 as a team with 61 doubles, four triples, 11 home runs and 46 stolen bases.
Northwestern State, which took 2-of-3 at McNeese State last weekend, was one-hit at UL Lafayette this past Tuesday in a 4-0 loss to the Ragin' Cajuns.
Since the Demons swept Southeastern in the final regular-season series of the 2010 season, the Lions have won 13-of-17 games against Northwestern State. Two of the four losses, however, have come against Oller. The Lions defeated Oller in the opening game of the 2014 Southland Conference Tournament, on their way to winning the tournament title.
Southeastern continues its six-game road swing Tuesday in Mobile, Alabama, facing No. 28-ranked South Alabama at 6 p.m. at Stanky Field.
