Lions Finish 14th at Tiger Invitational

OPELIKA, Ala. – The Southeastern Louisiana men's golf team continued its string of strong final rounds, shooting a 6-over-par 294 to finish 14th at the Tiger Invitational Presented by Jason Dufner on Tuesday at the Grand National Lake Course.

The Lions finished with a three-round score of 38-over 902 after opening with rounds of 303 and 305.

"We did have the best score of tournament," Southeastern head coach Jake Narro said. "We had three good scores. We just couldn't get four good rounds put together and have a good one-day score. But everybody had at least one good score (during the tournament.)"

Troy rallied with a final-round 5-under 283 to finish at 2-under 862, defeating host Auburn by three strokes. UNCG moved up to third at 14-over 878 following a final round 3-under 285.

Junior Paul Obermann led Southeastern after finishing in a four-way tie for 22nd with a 5-over 221. Obermann, who came into the round tied for third, shot a final-round 6-over 78 that included a birdie on No. 7, five bogeys and a double bogey on No. 13.

Senior Lawrence Allan was in a five-way tie for 38th at 9-over 225 following a 1-over 73 on Tuesday. Allan birdied No. 1, 4 and 16 while recording two bogeys and a double bogey on No. 8

Senior Eamon Bradley and junior Gustavo Leon had the best final rounds for Southeastern with a pair of even-par 72s. Bradley, whose round was highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 7th and birdies on No. 1, 4, 5 and 16, was in a three-way tie for 60th at 14-over 230. The eagle was the ninth of Bradley's career, moving him into a tie for third with Peter O'Keeffe (2005-07) on the Lions' career list.

Leon finished tied with seven others in 81st at 19-over 235 after carding birdies on No. 7, 12 and 13.

Junior James Anstiss closed with a 5-over 77 to tie two others at 18-over 234. He birdied No. 4.

UNCG teammates Taylor Coalson and Jake McGlone tied for the top at 3-under 213. UNCW's Patrick Cover and Auburn's Michael Johnson and Matt Gilchrest tied for third at 2-under 214.

Southeastern returns to action at the UTSA Lone Star Intercollegiate March 21-22 at the Briggs Ranch Golf Club in San Antonio.
