SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Southeastern Louisiana men's golf team recovered from a rough start to the second round to stand tied for seventh after the opening 36 holes Monday at the UTSA Lone Star Intercollegiate at Briggs Ranch Golf Club.
  Â
The Lions shot an 18-over-par 306 in the second round following a 14-over 302 in the first and are tied with Cincinnati at 32-over 608. No. 50 New Mexico leads at 3-over 579 after shooting a 2-under 286 in the second round. North Texas is second at 19-over 595 and is followed by Rice (597), host UTSA (599), Texas El Paso (603) and Mississippi State (606).
  Â
"That's about how we played," Southeastern head coach
Jake Narro said of the Lions' place in the standings. "We didn't play quite good enough to be much higher than that and I'm glad we're there, quite frankly. The field is so tightly bunched to where three or four bad holes in a row can move you eight or 10 spots so we need to have a good round tomorrow."

"The conditions were tough," Narro said. "The golf course was playing very hard. The weather was perfect but the golf course is very firm. The ball is really bouncing around and is really hard to control if you're not on. Which is a good thing. That means if you play good, you can pass a lot of people."
