Lions Host South Alabama for Local Heroes Night

First responders admitted free in uniform or with valid ID

HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana wraps up its four-game homestand Tuesday, hosting South Alabama at 6 p.m. for Local Heroes Night at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.

Area firefighters, EMTs, police, the sheriff's office and other local units will be admitted free in uniform or with valid ID.

Southeastern (10-6), which faces the Jaguars (12-4) in the first of two meetings this season, is coming off a Southland Conference series sweep of Incarnate Word.

Tuesday's game against South Alabama can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU 90.9 FM, online and through TuneIn Radio app. Fans can keep up with the game through live statistics or by following SLUathletics on Twitter. Streaming video is available on LionVision, Southeastern's subscription-based video stream. The Lions have six players hitting .300 or better this season, including Jameson Fisher (.421), Webb Bobo (.367), Taylor Schwaner (.333), Jacob Seward (.323), Julian Service (.317) and Brennan Breaud (.311).

Southeastern's pitching staff, which enters the week ranked ninth in the nation with an average of 10.1 strikeouts per nine innings, has compiled a 2.31 ERA, fanning 162 batters through 144.1 innings of work. Opponents are hitting .206 off Lion pitching.

Senior right-hander Pat Cashman (2-0, 5.63) draws the Tuesday nod for the Lions. He will be opposed by fellow righty Randy Bell (0-0, 4.50) for the Jaguars.

The South Alabama pitching staff has compiled a 3.49 ERA, fanning 116 batters in 147 innings of work. Opponents are hitting .247 off Jaguar pitching this season.

Drew LaBounty (.423), Brendan Donovan (.319) and Carter Perkins (.300) are South Alabama's top hitters. Jared Barnes, Ben Gann and Adam Wolfe are all tied for the team lead with three home runs apiece. Danny Martinez has driven in a team-high 19 runs.

South Alabama is coming off a sweep of Arkansas-Little Rock in a three-game Sun Belt Conference series.

The Lions have won their last four games against South Alabama, including a 12-2 win last season at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field on April 7.

General admission tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children (ages 3-12) for all Lion home games. Southeastern students are admitted free with a valid university ID card. Students and campus organizations can earn points toward their new Lion Up Loyalty account at any home game just by checking in on the mobile app while in attendance.

Ticket office hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Fridays. The box office at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field opens one hour prior to the scheduled first pitch.

Southeastern returns to Southland Conference play this coming weekend with a three-game series at Abilene Christian. Game times are slated for Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
