Weather Alters Lions' Weekend Baseball Series

Southeastern to host UIW Saturday, Sunday

HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana has altered the schedule for its weekend Southland Conference baseball series with Incarnate Word.

The Lions (7-6, 0-0 Southland) will now host UIW (3-9, 0-0 Southland) in a single game Saturday at 5 p.m. and a Sunday doubleheader that begins at 12 p.m. Season ticket holders are asked to use Saturday's ticket for the Saturday game.

Sunday, fans can use either Friday or Sunday's ticket. A doubleheader ticket will be sold and the stadium will not be cleared between games. The box office at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field opens one hour prior to the scheduled first pitch.

The games can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU 90.9 FM, online and through TuneIn Radio app. Fans can keep up with both contests through live statistics or by following SLUathletics on Twitter. Streaming video is available on LionVision, Southeastern's subscription-based video stream. Links for audio, video, stats, gameday promotions and tickets are available on the baseball schedule page at www.LionSports.net.

Students and campus organizations can also earn points toward their new Lion Up Loyalty account at any of the three games just by checking-in on the mobile app while in attendance.

Southeastern is coming off a 4-2 road win at Southern Miss this past Wednesday in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

The Lions have five players hitting .300 or better, including Jameson Fisher (.404), Carson Crites (.333), Taylor Schwaner (.333), Jacob Seward (.313) and Webb Bobo (.304). Southeastern is hitting .271 as a team with 15 doubles, seven home runs and 17 stolen bases.

Southeastern's pitching staff, which entered the week ranked fifth in the nation with an average of 10.6 strikeouts per nine innings, has compiled a 2.68 ERA, fanning 131 batters through 117.1 innings of work. Opponents are hitting .223 off Lion pitching.

Kyle Cedotal (1-2, 1.93) draws the starting nod for the Lions in the opener. He will be opposed by freshman righty Bernie Martinez (0-1, 4.08) for the Cardinals.

Sunday the Lions will send sophomore right-hander Mac Sceroler (1-2, 4.15) to the mound in the first game of the doubleheader against UIW righty John Shull (0-0, 4.40). Senior southpaw Domenick Carlini (1-0, 2.41) draws the starting nod for Southeastern in Sunday's finale against Cardinal freshman left-hander Tyler Lesley (2-1, 5.00).

UIW's pitching staff has compiled a 6.38 ERA, fanning 96 batters through 103 innings of work. Opponents are hitting .287 off Cardinal pitching.

Tanner Wall (.400), Matt Morris (.316) and Mark Whitehead (.316) are UIW's top offensive players. The Cardinals are hitting .230 as a team with 14 doubles and three stolen bases.

UIW has dropped its last seven games.

Southeastern will host South Alabama Tuesday at 6 p.m. to wrap up a 4-game homestand.
