ABILENE, Texas – Southeastern Louisiana will try to remain in the chase for the final spot in the Southland Conference Tournament when the Lady Lions visit league leader Abilene Christian Sunday at 3:30 p.m.

    The game between the Lady Lions (4-20, 3-10) and Wildcats (21-3, 12-1) will be broadcast on KSLU-FM (90.9). The game will also be will be broadcast live on ESPN3 as part of the Southland Conference television package.

    Southeastern fell two games behind Sam Houston State (9-14, 5-8) for the eighth and final spot in next month's Southland Conference Tournament with a 62-51 home loss to New Orleans on Thursday night. The Lady Lions trimmed a 19-point fourth-quarter deficit to six with 2:20 remaining but could not close the gap any further.

Nanna Pool had her second-straight and 10th double-double of the season with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Sophomore guard
Taylin Underwood added 14 points but the Lady Lions shot just 29.9 percent from the field, including 11.1 percent on 3s.

    Abilene Christian leads the conference by a game over Central Arkansas but is ineligible for the conference tournament while transitioning into Division I.

    The Wildcats won their third straight, 71-65, at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Wednesday. Junior forward Suzzy Dimba tossed in a game-high 25 points while junior guard Alexis Mason added 19. Junior forward Sydney Shelstead had a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Senior guard Whitney West Swinford was also in double figures with 11 points. ACU shot 49 percent for the game, including 52.6 percent on 3-pointers.

    The Lady Lions are eighth in the league in averaging 63.5 points per game. Southeastern is shooting 37.1 percent from the field, 27.1 percent on 3-pointers and 67.9 percent from the free throw line. Southeastern is fifth in the league with 38.3 rebounds per game while averaging 12.8 assists, 6.7 steals, 2.7 blocks and 20.2 turnovers.

The Wildcats are also second in scoring defense (61.3 ppg), field goal percentage (.421), field goal percentage defense (.366) and rebounding margin (plus 4.5) and are third in turnover margin (plus-2.1).

    Mason ranks third in the Southland with 17.5 points per game. She leads the conference with 2.9 3s (70 in 24 games) and is 12th in both 3-point percentage (.343) and free throw percentage (.777).

    Abilene Christian took a 4-1 lead in the series with an 88-72 win in Hammond on Feb. 6. Pool recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 21 points and 12 rebounds to go with a career-high tying five blocked shots for Southeastern. Anderson tied a career-high with 20 points and set a new career standard with seven assists.

    Lizzy Dimba had 23 points and 11 rebounds while Suzzy Dimba added 12 points and 11 boards for Abilene. Mason (19), Swinford (17) and Shelstead (12) also scored in double digits.
