HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana junior outfielder
Katie Lacour and freshman shortstop
Sydney Booker represented the Lady Lions on the 2015 Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) All-Louisiana Softball Teams, which were released by the LSWA on Sunday.
Lacour and Booker were both named to the All-Louisiana second team. Lacour was named to the All-Louisiana team for the third straight season, while Booker was honored after her debut collegiate season.
The honor was the latest for Lacour, who became the first SLU player to earn first team All-Southland Conference honors multiple times and the first NFCA All-Region honoree for the program since 1999. The Port St. Joe, Florida native finished with a single-season school record .484 batting average, ranking fifth in the nation and leading the Southland Conference.
Lacour also set single-season school records with 89 hits and 46 runs scored. At the end of her junior campaign, Lacour is the school's career record holder with 203 hits and 99 runs scored.
Booker, a third team All-Southland honoree and one of 25 finalists for the NFCA National Freshman of the Year, was honored after one of the best freshman seasons in program history. The Madison, Alabama native finished fourth in the nation and tied a single-season SLU record with eight triples.
Booker, who started all 52 games, also led the teams with eight home runs, 49 RBI and nine doubles. She finished her first season in Hammond with a .362 batting average, 39 runs scored and 63 hits, while doubling as the team's best fielding infielder.
After advancing to the Women's College World Series, LSU took home three of the top individual awards. Tiger junior shortstop Bianka Bell was named Hitter of the Year, while freshman pitcher Carley Hoover was named Pitcher of the Year and head coach Beth Torina was tabbed the state's top coach. McNeese State freshman catcher Erika Piancastelli was named Freshman of the Year, while Newcomer of the Year honors went to Louisiana Tech junior catcher Krysta Tutsch.
The All-Louisiana teams were chosen by a panel of state media and sports information directors.
