MCKINNEY, Texas – After enduring a five-hour weather delay, the Southeastern Louisiana men's golf team moved up to a tie for third place after the second day of the Southland Conference Championships Tuesday at the Stonebridge Ranch Country Club.
The second round did not tee off until 1:30 p.m. and was suspended with the final trio of McNeese State, Sam Houston State and Houston Baptist wrapping up the final holes. SLU just finished the second round and has a two-round score of 611 (+35), tied with HBU, which will finish the second round early Wednesday morning before the final round.
Though the Lions and Huskies are tied for third, front runners McNeese State and Sam Houston State have pulled away from the pack. The Cowboys lead at seven-over par, while the Bearkats are two strokes back at plus-9.
Sam Houston State's JT Taylor and McNeese State's Andreas Krokeide share the day two lead in the individual standings. Both leaders are through 12 holes and are tied at two-under par.
SLU has two players in the top 10 heading into the final day. Junior
Lawrence Allan carded a two-under par 70 on Tuesday and is three strokes off the individual lead with a two-round score of 145 (+1).
Lion senior
Grady Brame shot a 71 on Monday, but dropped a few shots with a 77 on Tuesday. The Hammond native is currently tied for eighth (+4). Rounding out the Southeastern lineup are sophomore
James Anstiss (+12, T25th), sophomore
Paul Obermann (+19, 40
th) and junior
Eamon Bradley (+20, T41st).
