Hammond, Louisiana – Southeastern Louisiana track and field junior
Alex Young is set to compete in the 2015 NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas on Friday.
The Nashville, Tennessee native qualified for the hammer throw event with his performance at the LSU Twilight in February, where he tossed for a distance of seventy feet, 10.5 inches. He is now tied as the 12
th best in Division I, according to USTFCCCA rankings. In Arkansas, he will be battling for an All-American spot, as those who finish among the top ten will receive the title.
Young came to Southeastern by way of Gardner-Webb University. During his two years there, he set school records in the weight throw, shot put, and discus. Earlier this season, he was named the Southland Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week after his performances in the weight throw (1
st, 68-05.75) and shot put (1
st, 53-09.75) at the Cameron Communications Indoor Meet.
The hammer throw event will be held at the Fowler Family Baseball and Track Training Center, located on the University of Arkansas's campus. It is set to begin on Friday, March 13
th, at 7 pm central time.
