HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana softball team will continue its road swing this weekend, when it heads to San Antonio to compete in the UTSA Classic.
The Lady Lions (4-4) will open the tournament with a 10 a.m. game versus Iowa State (6-2) on Saturday, before facing host UTSA (8-3) later in the day at 3 p.m. SLU and UTSA will meet again on Sunday at 10 a.m. Live stats, provided by UTSA, will be accessible at LionSports.net.
Southeastern opened its road schedule on Thursday, falling to Mississippi State, 4-3. Freshman third baseman
Sydney Booker led the team at the plate, hitting her first collegiate home run in the loss.
SLU enters the weekend with a team batting average of .335. Senior shortstop
Megan Moore leads the team with a .478 batting average, followed by junior outfielder
Katie Lacour (.464), freshman outfielder
Kinsey Nichols (.455) and Booker (.375). Nichols has scored a team-high nine runs, while Lacour has scored eight times.

Iowa State is led at the plate by junior infielder/outfielder Brittany Gomez (.483) and senior infielder/catcher Maddie Reese (3 HR, 9 RBI), Sophomore Katie Johnson (5-1, 2.33 ERA) and freshman Brianna Weilbacher (1-0, 4.96 ERA) have handled the majority of the work in the circle for the Cyclones.
UTSA has gotten off to a good start thanks to the power of senior infielder Vivian Tijerina (4 HR), freshman outfielder Kendall Burton (3 HR), senior infielder Courtney Buchman (4 HR) and sophomore infielder Randee Crawford (3 HR). In the circle, sophomore Chelsea Parker (5-1, 3.15 ERA), junior Kacy Freeze (1-1, 5.25 ERA) and sophomore Nicole Merrill (1-1, 7.58 ERA) have all seen significant action in the circle.
SLU will close out its road swing on Tuesday, traveling to Louisiana-Monroe for a 6 p.m. contest.
