Lion Hoops Faces Final Preseason Tuneup

SLU hosts Xavier in an exhibition contest

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana men's basketball squad hosts Xavier of Louisiana in an exhibition contest Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the University Center, its final tuneup before officially opening the 2015-16 regular season.

Regular season ticket prices will be charged for admission to Wednesday's exhibition contest. Courtside Top Cat seats are $25. General admission tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children (age 3-12). Southeastern students will be admitted free with a valid university ID card. The University Center box office opens one hour prior to tipoff.

Southeastern students and campus organizations can earn 10 points toward their new Lion Up Loyalty account at the exhibition game just by checking-in on the mobile app while in attendance.

There is no local radio coverage for the contest, but fans can watch it live on LionVision, Southeastern's subscription-based video stream, or follow live statistics. Links for both are available on the basketball schedule page at www.LionSports.net.

Southeastern, which recorded a 9-23 overall record last season, dropped an 82-68 decision to LSU Alexandria this past Wednesday in an exhibition contest at the University Center.

Guards Dimi Cook, a freshman from Gulfport, Mississippi, and Zay Jackson, a senior from Hammond, each scored 14 points to lead the Lions against LSUA. Joshua Filmore, a junior guard from Orlando, Florida, added 10 points. James Currington, a sophomore forward from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, led all players with 10 rebounds.

Southeastern shot 49.1 percent (26-of-53) from the floor against the Generals, including 15.4 percent (2-of-13) from 3-point range. The Lions were 14-of-23 (60.9 percent) from the free throw line.

Xavier (2-0) has wins this season over Webber International and Carver, and are led offensively by the duo of Morris Wright (18.0 points per game) and Lucas Martin-Julien (13.5 ppg).

The Gold Rush shoots 41.2 percent from the floor (40-of-97), 31.8 percent from three-point range (7-of-22) and 75 percent on free throws (57-of-76). Xavier is averaging 72 points and 41 rebounds per game.

Season ticket sales for Southeastern men's basketball have been extended through close of business on Nov. 13. Both season and advanced single-game tickets can be purchased online at www.LionSports.net/Tickets or by contacting the Southeastern Athletics Ticket Office at (985) 549-5466. The ticket office, located in the Dugas Center for Southeastern Athletics, is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., as well as Friday from 8 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Southeastern opens the 2015-16 regular season Nov. 13 at TCU. The home opener is Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. against Mississippi College.
