Conway, Arkansas- The Southeastern Louisiana University's men's and women's track and field teams are currently in second after the first day of competition at the 2014 Southland Conference Outdoor Championships.
The Southeastern Louisiana men are in second with 23 points, behind SFA who leads with 42 points through three events.
The group of men's throwers earned a total of 21 points in the hammer throw, with 4 Lions finishing among the top ten. Sophomore
Jonathan Kinchen placed second in the event, tossing for 199 feet, nine inches. Junior
Brett Olsen (195-00) and senior
Jeffrey Milliron (187-05) came in 3
rd and 4
th, respectively, while sophomore
Jimmy LeBlanc rounded out the performances in 7
th (177-00).
Senior
Kevin Dorhauer placed 7
th in the men's pole vault, posting a mark of fifteen feet, 7.75 inches.
The Lady Lions are currently in second place (nineteen points) as well, paced by sophomore
Misha Frazier who placed second in the women's hammer throw. The reigning 2013 Louisiana Female Freshman of the year tossed for 183 feet, seven inches.
Sharon Ann Ourso and
Katelyn Whitekiller also earned point for the Lady Lions in the pole vault event. Ourso jumped a height of twelve feet, two inches, while Whitekiller posted a mark of 3.71 meters.
The meet continues Saturday with the multi events getting underway at 10 a.m. Field events start at 3 p.m. and running-event prelims begin at 5 p.m.
