Southeastern Set For Mid-Week Tilt At Jackson State

Lions have won five straight and eight of last 10

JACKSON, Miss. – The Southeastern Louisiana baseball team, winners of five in-a-row, head to Jackson State for a 6 p.m. non-conference contest Tuesday at Robert "Bob" Braddy Field.

Southeastern (27-13) has won a season-high five-consecutive games for the third time this season, sweeping a three-game Southland Conference series from the University of New Orleans this past weekend.

Jameson Fisher (.356), Andrew Godbold (.342), Brett Hoffman (.313), Kevin Carr (.308) and Kennon Menard (.304) lead Southeastern at the plate. Godbold's five home runs lead the team and his 36 RBIs are tied for the most in the Southland. Hoffman owns a team-high 12 doubles and his 27 RBIs are the second-most on the ballclub.

The Lions are hitting .281 as team and have been successful on 64-of-99 stolen base attempts. Southeastern's pitching staff has compiled a 2.69 ERA, second-lowest in the Southland, fanning 286 batters in 358 innings pitched.

Sophomore left-hander Kyle Cedotal (2-1, 1.50) earns the start on the mound for the Lions. Jackson State (24-19) has not announced a starting pitcher.

Tilur Smith leads the Tigers in batting average (.339) and doubles (14) while Bryce Taylor is the team leader in home runs, with four, and RBIs (40). Jackson State is hitting .261 as a team and has been successful on 64-of-94 stolen base attempts. The pitching staff has compiled a 3.85 ERA, fanning 276 batters in 381.1 innings of work.

The Tigers have lost seven of their last eight games.

Southeastern travels to Huntsville, Texas, this coming weekend for a three-game series with Sam Houston State before returning home, April 29, to host the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
