Cedotal, Cutura, Fisher Lead Lions To Series-Opening Win At ULM

Southeastern swipes six bags on way to 13-4 win

Box Score

MONROE, La. – Career nights by Kyle Cedotal, Andro Cutura and Jameson Fisher sparked Southeastern Louisiana to a 13-4 win over the University of Louisiana at Monroe Friday night at Warhawk Field.

Cedotal established a career high with four hits and Fisher turned in his second-consecutive four-hit game for Southeastern (7-2). Brett Hoffman and Jacob Williams each produced a pair of hits, with Hoffman driving in four runs and Williams three. Six different Lions stole a base in the game.

Andro Cutura (2-0) earned the win, tossing a complete game and striking out a career-high 10 batters. He limited ULM (4-6) to four runs, three earned, on seven hits and one walk.

Each team scored three runs in the first inning, but the Lions came back with three more in the top of the second to take back the lead for good.

Cedotal doubled down the right-field line to lead off the second before Warhawk starter Alex Dumaine (1-2) walked Jacob Seward. Both players moved up on a wild pitch and Cedotal scored from third on Williams' ground out to second base. Jesse Buratt singled up the middle to drive in Seward and chase Dumaine from the game. Buratt stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error by the catcher, scoring on Fisher's first hit of the game.

The Lions would add another run in the third. Both teams traded single runs in the fifth and Southeastern came back with two more in the sixth. The final three runs of the game for the Lions came in the top of the ninth.

Saturday Southeastern will send sophomore right-hander Tate Scioneaux (2-0, 0.75), a member of the Southland's preseason All-Conference second team, to the mound against ULM freshman right-hander Josh Leone (1-1, 6.14) in a 6 p.m. contest.

Sunday's series finale, originally scheduled to start at 1 p.m., has been moved up to a noon first pitch.
