HAMMOND – After helping the No. 10 Southeastern Louisiana football team to a 76-7 victory over Houston Baptist, Lion senior wide receiver
Devante Scott was named the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Special Teams Player of the Week in announcement from the LSWA on Monday.
Scott, a native of Ferriday, Louisiana, was an instrumental part of the Lions' lopsided victory. He returned a kickoff 62 yards and also had a 31-yard punt return. Both long returns set up touchdowns for SLU.
Scott was also a key cog in Southeastern's 444-yard passing effort. The Lions' leading receiver on the season finished with four catches for 102 yards, totaling 201 all-purpose yards for the day.
Scott and No. 10 Southeastern will close out its home schedule on Saturday, hosting No. 11/13 McNeese State at 3 p.m. in Strawberry Stadium. It will be Senior Day for the Lions, as the accomplished senior class will be honored prior the game.
