HAMMOND – Beginning with the Southeastern Louisiana football team's Oct. 5 home game versus Incarnate Word, Southeastern Athletics will encourage fans to participate in the "#Storm30" initiative to help enhance the atmosphere in Strawberry Stadium.
Beginning 30 minutes before the kickoff of each Lion home game, the Southeastern Spirit of the Southland band, the cheerleaders and the Lionette dance team will lead a procession of fans into the stadium to help fill the seats for kickoff. Fans are encouraged to clear the tailgating areas and storm the stadium to support the Lions.
Once in the stands, the fans will enjoy pregame entertainment provided by the Southeastern spirit groups and the new video board, while also being able to take advantage of special select concession discounts that are only available during the final half hour before kickoff.
The pregame festivities will be highlighted by the entrance of the Lions, which will be enhanced by a special entrance video. Southeastern Interim Director of Athletics
Jay Artigues believes that "#Storm30" will improve the game day experience for both Southeastern fans and student-athletes.
"We want Strawberry Stadium to provide a home field advantage and a big part of that is having as many fans in the seats as possible for kickoff," Artigues said. "We believe our fans will enjoy the continued improvements to our game day atmosphere while also showing their support for our football student-athletes."
The Lions' Oct. 5 home game versus Incarnate Word will be the Hall of Fame Game. 2013 Hall of Fame inductees Felton Huggins, Nate Lofton and Chris Carter will be honored at halftime.
The game will be broadcast on KSLU 90.9 FM, the flagship station of the Southeastern Sports Radio Network, as well as Northshore Broadcasting stations Kajun 107.1 FM and The Joint 104.7 FM. Fans can listen online at
www.LionSports.net or on their smart phone using the TuneIn Radio app. LionVision subscribers will have access to a live video feed at LionSports.net, where live stats will also be available. The Southeastern Channel (Charter Channel 18) will also air the game on tape delay.
