HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana women's soccer team will take its undefeated record on the road this week with a pair of matches in Mississippi.
The Lady Lions (2-0) open the trip in Itta Bena with a 6 p.m. match versus Mississippi Valley State (0-2). On Sunday, Southeastern heads to Southern Miss (1-0-1) for a 4 p.m. contest in Hattiesburg.
Southeastern opened its road schedule with a dramatic 2-1 double overtime victory at Louisiana-Lafayette on Tuesday. Senior
Kelsey Salcido scored the game-winning goal off a corner kick by freshman
Alexsis Cable. Southeastern fell behind early, but freshman
Katie Noonan found the net to tie the score in the first half. Freshman
Hope Sabadash held Louisiana-Lafayette for the final 92 minutes, finishing with 11 saves in the match.
Noonan has found the net in each of her first two collegiate matches. Salcido, sophomore

Marisa Rodrigues each have one goal apiece. Salcido leads the team with two assists, while Peacock, Cable, freshman Brianna Singh and senior
Shanyce Shaw have one assist each.

Maddie Allen have all seen action on the back line, holding the first two opponents to two goals. Sabadash has handled all the work in goal and heads to Mississippi with a 0.92 goals against average.
Mississippi Valley State will be looking for its first victory and first goal of 2013 when the Lady Lions visit on Friday. The Delta Devils opened the season with a 4-0 loss to Central Arkansas, before falling to Southern Miss, 6-0. Senior Shelby Wilcocks has handled all the goalkeeping duties and has a 5.00 goals against average.
Southeastern is 4-0 all-time versus MVSU. Last season, Southeastern won, 3-0, in Hammond behind goals by Salcido,
Sam McNally and
Maiya Cooper.
Southern Miss, which hosts Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Friday, earned its first win with the victory over MVSU after opening the season with a 2-2 tie versus Arkansas State. Senior Danica Roberts, senior Chelsea Cruthirds and junior Brooke Hendrix lead USM with two goals apiece. Senior Lindsey Schwaner has handled the majority of the work in goal and currently has a 1.34 goals against average.
Southeastern is looking for its first-ever win over Southern Miss. USM holds a 7-0-1 advantage in the all-time series and edged the Lady Lions, 1-0, last season in Hammond.
Following this week's action, Southeastern will return home to host Mississippi State at 4 p.m. at the Southeastern Soccer Complex.
