HAMMOND, La. – Trailing by two, the Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team pushed across three runs in the ninth inning Friday for a 4-3, comeback win over Central Arkansas in Southland Conference play.

Southeastern (29-17, 12-7 Southland) tied the game at one in the sixth, but Central Arkansas (31-12, 10-9 Southland) responded with a pair of two-out runs in the bottom of the inning off Lion starter Andro Cutura.

Down 3-1 entering their final at-bat, the Lions rallied to take the lead for the first time in the game. With one out, Harry Slade singled to right-center field and moved to second on Jesse Buratt's single to left. Corey Bryan pinch ran for Buratt.

Ladd Rhodes hit a hard chopper back to the pitcher, but the ball ricocheted off of Bear right-hander Caleb McClanahan back toward the third-base line, allowing Rhodes to reach safely. With the bases loaded, Aaron Haag was hit by a pitch to drive in Slade and put the eventual tying run at third.

Pinch-hitting, Josh Watkins smashed a grounder to the shortstop, but Justin Treece couldn't knock it down as it skipped away into left. Bryan and Rhodes scored giving Southeastern the lead in come-from-behind fashion.

Dylan Hills (3-1) earned the win for the Lions with a pair of perfect innings in relief while McClanahan (8-4) suffered the loss in a complete-game effort.

The series continues Saturday at 6:30 p.m. with Lion freshman right-hander Tate Scioneaux (5-1, 3.39) on the mound opposite left-hander Jeffrey Enloe (7-3, 2.13), a senior from Gonzales, La.
