HAMMOND, La. – In his collegiate debut, Southeastern Louisiana freshman pitcher Gabe Von Rosenberg was the beneficiary of an offensive explosion as the Lion defeated Jackson State, 13-1, Tuesday at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.

Southeastern (23-11) pounded out 18 hits, its second-largest total of the season, as six different starters recorded multi-hit games.

Von Rosenberg (1-0), a freshman from Zachary, La., allowed one run while scattering four hits in six innings of work to earn to the win. He walked two and fanned four.

Falling behind 1-0, the Lions answered with four-consecutive hits to open the second inning. Jameson Fisher and Jesse Buratt each singled before Aaron Haag knocked his second home run of the season. The three-run shot to left-center field put Southeastern up for good.

The Lions added a pair of two-out runs in the third. Fisher singled and scored on Buratt's double to left-center while Buratt scored on Haag's double to right-center.

Southeastern scored four runs in the fifth, batting around. Catcher Sam Roberson led off the inning with a triple to left-center, the first of his career, and scored on Fisher's RBI-double to right. Hits by Brett Hoffman, Kyle Cedotal and Ladd Rhodes extended the inning.

In the sixth, the Lions tacked on another pair of runs. Senior Alex Marse, pinch hitting for Buratt, hit a two-run home run just inside the left-field foul pole. It was the first of his career.

The Lions wrapped up the scoring with a pair of runs in the eighth inning.
