Lions Look To Continue Streak

Southeastern has taken last nine from the Ragin' Cajuns

Senior right-hander Kaleb Manuel will start for the Lions
HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team returns home Tuesday to host Louisiana-Lafayette at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.

It is a Dinner at the Diamond night for Southeastern students. Free food will be provided for the first 200 Southeastern students through the gates.

The game can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9), on the internet through the Southeastern athletics website, as well as on the KSLU iPhone and TuneIn Radio apps. Live stats, as well as a live video stream through LionVision, will be available. Links to audio, stats and video are located on the baseball schedule page at  www.LionSports.net.

Southeastern (18-7) is coming off a weekend sweep of Northwestern State in a three-game Southland Conference series. The Lions have won seven of their last eight, overall, and the last nine in the series with UL-Lafayette (17-6).

Senior right fielder Harry Slade continues to lead Southeastern at the plate with a .355 average, sixth-best in the Southland. Slade and junior third baseman Jesse Buratt lead the club with six doubles. Jameson Fisher, Aaron Haag, Tanner Rainey, Sam Roberson and Slade have each hit one home run. Slade also leads the team with 22 runs batted in and has swiped a team-best eight bases in 12 attempts.

The Lions will start senior right-hander Kaleb Manuel (2-1, 5.02) against UL-Lafayette. A native of Mamou, La., Manuel is coming off the first complete-game performance of his career at Jackson State. The Ragin' Cajuns will counter with junior right-hander Chase Traffica (2-1, 6.75).

UL-Lafayette was swept in a three-game, Sun Belt Conference series at Middle Tennessee this past weekend.

Tyler Girouard (.439), Blake Trahan (.347) and Dex Kjerstad (.338) lead the Ragin' Cajuns at the plate. Caleb Adams has a team-best six home runs and 18 RBIs. Trahan and Jace Conrad have each stolen five bases. UL-Lafayette is hitting .306 as a team.

Southeastern returns to action at 6 p.m. Thursday against Nicholls State at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field. It is the opener of a split, three-game, Southland Conference series.
