Bulldogs Fourth SEC Foe Of Season For Southeastern

Lions face Mississippi State at Tupelo's BancorpSouth Arena

TUPELO, Miss. – The Southeastern Louisiana men's basketball squad faces its fourth Southeastern Conference opponent of the season Friday as the Lions matchup against Mississippi State at the BancorpSouth Arena.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. The Mississippi State radio broadcast can be heard either online or via satellite radio on Sirius channel 136 and XM channel 199. Southeastern (3-5) is looking to snap a streak as it has dropped three-consecutive contests, including a heartbreaking, 74-73 decision to Southeast Missouri this past Saturday. It was just the second non-conference home loss for the Lions in the last 33 games.

JaMichael Hawkins leads Southeastern in scoring, averaging 11.4 points per game. Antonnio Benton (9.5 ppg, 6.1 rebounds) and Devonte Upson (9.4 ppg, 6.5 rpg) are the next two biggest scoring threats for the Lions as well as being the team's top rebounders.

Mississippi State (5-2) fell to TCU, 71-61 in Starkville, the last time out as part of the Big 12/SEC Challenge. The Bulldogs other loss came in the team's only venture away from campus this season, dropping an 87-68 decision at Utah State.

Craig Sword leads three Bulldogs in double-digit scoring, averaging 14.3 ppg. Gavin Ware (11.3 ppg) and Roquez Johnson (11.0 ppg) are the team's other top scorers. Ware also leads the team in rebounding, picking up 9.1 rpg.

Southeastern's next contest will be on the road. The Lions matchup with Tennessee-Martin, Dec. 21, in a return trip from the 2012 Sears Bracketbusters. Southeastern returns home to host Spring Hill, Dec. 30, at 7 p.m. in the University Center.
