Southeastern Places 52 on Southland Conference Commissioner's Fall Honor Roll

Student-athletes from football, volleyball, soccer and cross country programs excel in the classroom

Paige Dollison was one of the 52 student-athletes honored Thursday
HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana placed 52 student-athletes on the Southland Conference Commissioner's Fall 2011 Academic Honor Roll, which was released by the league office on Thursday.
 
The fall honor roll honors student-athletes from the fall sports who maintained a semester grade point average of 3.0 or above. Members of the Southeastern football, soccer, volleyball and cross country programs were honored. In all 13 Lions and Lady Lions from those sports finished the semester with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
 
The Lion football program led the department with 29 selections. Highlighting the Southeastern football contingent was senior wide receiver Simmie Yarborough, who finished his career in Hammond as the career record holder in every receiving category.
 
Senior defender Kyle MacIntosh was the standout among the Southeastern women's soccer team's 15 selections. The three-time Academic All-Southland Conference selection was joined by fellow All-Southland teammates Maiya Cooper, Karly Daygs and Kelsey Salcido.
 
The Southeastern volleyball team finished the fall with seven student-athletes over a 3.0 semester GPA. Among the honorees was senior middle blocker Paige Dollision, a All-Southland, All-Louisiana and Southland All-Academic choice in 2011.
 
Freshman Katie Neal represented the Southeastern cross country program. The Marrero native posted a perfect 4.0 GPA in biology in the fall.
 
A total of 692 student-athletes represented the league's 12 academic institutions.
