HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southeastern Louisiana women's soccer team will continue its four-match road trip on Friday, when it faces non-conference foe Southern Mississippi at 4 p.m. at the Southern Miss Soccer Complex.

The Lady Lions (2-0-1) will look to remain unbeaten when they visit the host Golden Eagles (1-2-1). Live stats will be available at www.gosouthernmiss.com.

Southeastern opened its road slate last Friday, battling to a 1-1 tie at in-state foe Louisiana-Lafayette. Sophomore Jaci Teresinski tied the score with a goal in the 84th minute. Junior goalkeeper Cassie Northrup finished with a career-high eight saves, including a pair in the final minutes of the second overtime to secure the draw.

Southeastern has used a balanced attack through the first three matches, as six players have accounted for the team's 11 goals. Teresinski and junior Megan Miller share the team lead with three goals each. Junior Sam McNally has two goals, while juniors Maiya Cooper, Karly Dagys and Kerry McWhirter have one goal apiece.

Junior Lauren Stillians leads the Southland Conference with five assists. Dagys has also been a key distributor with three assists on the year.

The preseason first team All-Southland duo of Cooper and Dagys are both climbing the Southeastern career ranks in multiple categories. Cooper is currently fifth in school history with 26 goals and eighth with 60 points in her two-plus seasons in Hammond. Dagys, who ranks among the program's career leaders in assists (16, 10th) and shots (126, 8th), needs one point and four goals to crack the top 10 in those categories. Cooper and Dagys are also tied for sixth with six career game-winning goals.

While the Lady Lion offense has been productive, Southeastern has limited its opponents' scoring opportunities. The Southeastern defensive backfield of McWhirter, senior Kyle MacIntosh, sophomore Shanyce Shaw and freshman Jennifer Marzi has combined to hold opponents to one goal on the year. Northrup has handled all the work in the net this season and has a Southland-best 0.31 goals against average.

Much like Southeastern, Southern Miss' last match was at Louisiana-Lafayette. The Ragin' Cajuns took a 3-2 overtime win over the Golden Eagles.

Four different players have found the net for USM this season. Freshman Brooke Hendrix, junior Jordan Wagner, freshman Macie Wallace and sophomore Chelsea Cruthirds each have one goal apiece for the Golden Eagles.

Senior Hannah Vanderboegh has handled the majority of the work in goal for Southern Miss and has a 1.64 goals against average. Sophomore Lindsey Schwaner earned a shutout in her only appearance of the year – a 0-0 tie with Louisiana Tech.

Southeastern is looking for its first win ever over Southern Miss and carries an 0-5-1 all-time record versus USM into Friday's match. The two teams battled to a 1-1 tie last season in Hammond. That match saw Stillians give Southeastern a lead early in the second half, but Wagner knotted it up for USM in the 67th minute.

Following Friday's match, Southeastern will take a week off before traveling to Louisiana-Monroe for a 4:30 p.m. match on Friday, Sept. 9.
