CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Southeastern Louisiana softball team suffered a doubleheader sweep at the hands of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the league opener for the Lady Lions Saturday afternoon at Chapman Field.
Southeastern fell to 7-10 overall and 0-2 in league play with the two losses. The red-hot Islanders (15-5, 5-0 Southland) extended its league-best winning streak to 10 matches.
In the opener, TAMUCC pitcher Jordan Trujillo (8-2) held Southeastern to two hits, while the Islanders' 11-hit attack was paced by a 3-for-4 performance by Brittany Tucker in a 16-0 win. The Islanders came back with 17 hits in an 11-3 win in the nightcap. Southeastern senior

Game One – A&M-Corpus Christi 16, Southeastern Louisiana 0 (5 Innings)
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi jumped to a 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning off Lady Lion freshman
Jessie Browne (3-3) without the benefit of a hit. The Islanders scored on a bases loaded walk, a fielder's choice and an illegal pitch.
The Islanders added six more in the third inning. A two-run single by Stephanie Vead and a three-run double by Kacie Smith highlighted the Islanders' big inning.
A&M-Corpus Christi scored seven more runs in the fourth inning. A two-run double by Tucker highlighted the Islanders' six-hit inning.

Game Two – A&M-Corpus Christi 11, Southeastern Louisiana 3 (5 Innings)
A&M-Corpus Christi took the early lead in the top of the first against Lady Lion senior
Bailey Zievert (3-1). Hannah Schwarz led off the inning with a single and scored on a Smith single to take a 1-0 lead.
Southeastern evened the score in the top of the second inning. Duhe led off the frame with her first home run of the season to knot the score at 1-1.
The tie would be short-lived as the Islanders scored five runs in the bottom of the second inning. A two-run home run by Smith highlighted the frame. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi added two more runs on a double by Caley Jeter in the third to take an 8-1 lead.
Southeastern would cut into the lead in the top of the fourth inning. Sophomore
Kelsey Nichols singled to lead off the inning and later scored on an Islander error. Freshman
Megan Moore singled in another run to cut the lead to 8-3.
The Islanders enforced the mercy rule in the bottom of the sixth inning. Smith hit a two-run home run and Vead singled home another run to provide the eight-run margin.
