Lady Lions Travel To Northwestern State

Southeastern wraps up season on the road

HAMMOND – The Southeastern volleyball teams wraps up its 2011 season with a pair of Southland Conference road contests this week.

The Lady Lions (5-26, 1-13 Southland) are at Northwestern State Thursday for a 7 p.m. match and travel to Central Arkansas Saturday to conclude the season.

Earlier this season, Northwestern State defeated Southeastern in four sets. Paige Dollison (12 kills, .357 attack percentage) and Kinsey Williams (10 kills, .250 attack percentage) led the way for the Lady Lions in the contest. Both Dollison and Williams had a pair of block assists.

This season, Courtney Donald leads the Southeastern attack. Donald average 2.21 kills per set and is tied with Williams for the second most total blocks on the team. Williams (2.12 k/set) and Dollison (2.08 k/set) are the other top hitters for the Lady Lions. Dollison leads the team in solo blocks (12), block assists (67) and total blocks (79).

Sophomore Lindsey Young tops the Southeastern leaderboards in assists per set (7.72) and total service aces (30). Megan McMillin anchors the back row with the ninth-best digs per set in the Southland Conference (3.53).

Northwestern State (8-19, 4-10 Southland) has dropped its last five matches since beating McNeese State and Lousiana Tech in back-to-back contests in mid-October.

The Lady Demons are led by freshmen Stacy DiFrancesco and Kelly Jimenez (2.71 k/set). DiFrancesco 3.67 kills per set is second-highest in the conference. Freshmen Mackenzie Neely and Vanessa Coleman have each recorded 70 total blocks.

Southeastern faces Central Arkansas at 1 p.m. Saturday in Conway, Ark.
