HAMMOND – McNeese State swept the Lady Lion volleyball team Saturday by identical scores in all three sets of a Southland Conference contest.
Southeastern scored the first point of every set, but the Cowgirls came from behind to take all three, 25-18, 25-18, 25-18.
Tamra Grayson finished with 10 kills for the Lady Lions and hit .304 for the match.
Elizabeth Ramee tallied seven while
Paige Dollison and
Courtney Donald added six kills apiece.
Megan McMillin picked up 14 digs and
Taylor Buckner recorded eight for Southeastern.
The Lady Lions (5-24, 1-11 Southland) led 1-0in the first set, but McNeese State used kills by Rachel Cagnina and Maegan Carlton to tie and take the lead for good. Up 10-6, the Cowgirls tallied four in-a-row to extend their lead.
In the second set, Southeastern led 7-4 on the strength of three Grayson kills. A 21-11 run by the Cowgirls put the set away.
The third set contained the most tie scores (eight) and lead changes (three) of the match. The final tie, 9-9, came on another of Grayson's 10 kills. McNeese State took the lead for good on the next rally with a Nicole Bowden kill.
The Cowgirls (8-18, 3-9 Southland) were led by Bowden (14 kills) and Taylor Bustamento (7 kills, 19 digs). Katie Kennedy added 12 digs for McNeese State.
Southeastern returns to action Nov. 3, hosting Texas Arlington at 7 p.m., and faces Texas State at noon Nov. 5 for Senior Day.
