NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southeastern Louisiana's
Cedric Scotto fired a 3-under-par 67 on Friday and the Lions carded a team score of 5-over 285 on the day to remain in 12th place after the second round of the 2010 NCAA Men's Golf East Regional at The Course at Yale.
Freshman
Philipp Westermann, who shot an even-par-70 on Thursday, fired a 1-over 71 to finish at 141 after 36 holes and tied for 19th overall. Scotto bounced back from a 76 in the opening round to post the second-lowest round of the day and finish at 143 – tied for 34th.
Horacio Leon shot a 3-over 73 (71-73-144) for the Lions with freshman
Alvaro Arizabaleta firing a 74 (71-74-145) and
Rasmus Astrand a 78 (76-78-154).
Southeastern finished at 573 after the second round – two shots behind Alabama and South Carolina. The Lions finished eight strokes behind fifth-place Virginia, with the top five teams in each of six regionals played across the country advancing to the NCAA Championships in Chattanooga, Tenn.
First day leader Texas fired a team score of 281 while Kent State posted the lowest score of the day (278) to move into a tie at 555 after two rounds. Penn State (560), UCLA (563) and Virginia (565) rounded out the top five.
Rhys Enoch of East Tennessee State fired a 2-under 68 to finish at 133 and take a one shot lead heading into the final round. Kevin Foley of Penn State was second at carding a second consecutive 3-under 67 while first day leader Cody Gribble of Texas was in a third-place tie with Kevin Miller of Kent State at 135.
