MADISON, Miss. – Freshman
Alvaro Arizabaleta fired a two-under-par 70 to finish in a tie for 17th place and lead the No. 39-ranked Southeastern Louisiana University golf team on the final day of the BancorpSouth Intercollegiate on Tuesday at Reunion Golf and Country Club.
Cedric Scotto carded an even-par 72 as Southeastern posted a team score of 290 and finished 12th overall in the 15-team field. The Lions, who were 13th after the first 36 holes, finished at 886 for the 54-hole event three strokes behind Santa Clara and seven shots behind 10th-place finisher Rice.
Arizabaleta finished at 217 for the tournament after posting scores of 72 and 75 on Monday. Freshman
Philipp Westermann posted a two-over 74 to finish at 221 for the tournament while Scotto (78-75-72-225),
Horacio Leon (77-75-74-226) and
Rasmus Astrand (80-72-75-227) rounded out the Southeastern lineup.
North Florida, ranked No. 22 nationally by GolfStat, posted a team score of 278 in the final round to finish at 846 and edge 18th-ranked Florida by one stroke. Host Ole Miss was third at 861 followed by Memphis (872), Louisiana Tech (874) and Southern Miss (874).
Southeastern will return to action April 26-28 when it competes in the 2010 Southland Conference Championships at Springfield's Carter Plantation. Admission is free with the winner advancing to the NCAA Regionals.
