LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – No. 44-ranked Southeastern Louisiana carded the lowest round on the final day of the 2010 UALR/First Tee Collegiate Classic to rally from a two-shot deficit and capture the team championship on Tuesday at Chenal Country Club.
The tournament title was the Lions' second consecutive victory on the links and third of the season for head coach
Tim Baldwin.
Freshman Philip Westermann earned a fifth-place finish for the Lions after firing a 2-over-par 74 to finish at 215.
Horacio Leon carded the lowest round of the day for Southeastern with a 3-under 69 to finish tied for 11th at 219 while
Rasmus Astrand finished in a tie for 16th place at 221 after posting an even-par 72.
Alvaro Arizabaleta finished tied for 16th at 222 while
Cedric Scotto was tied for 37th at 227.
Southeastern fired a team score of 291 to finish at 865 for the tournament and surge past first-day leader Missouri. The Tigers, who led by two strokes after the first two rounds, finished eight shots back at 873 with Central Arkansas (874), Lamar (878) and North Texas (879) rounding out the top five.
Iowa State (893), Illinois State (894), Louisiana Tech (897), Rice (901) and Louisiana-Lafayette (902) finished sixth through 10th in the 18-team event.
Southeastern returns to action on Monday when it competes in the BancorpSouth Intercollegiate in Madison, Miss.
