Game Two – Texas State 5, Southeastern Louisiana 4 (8 innings)
Texas State jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Hernandez drew a one-out walk and advanced to second on a wild pitch by junior
Bailey Zievert. Gomez's throw to second sailed into centerfield and Hernandez was allowed to advance all the way home. Haley Lemons then drew a walk and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Baack.
The Lady Lions came back in the bottom of the first. Texas State starter Anne Marie Taylor hit Logan to open the game and Michelle Duhe then bunted her over to second. Gomez followed with a sharp single up the middle to score Logan. After sophomore
Katelyn Thomason drew a walk, Taylor retired freshman
Kati Morse. Junior
Tamra Ladnier then hit a fly ball to center, but Tello dropped it and allowed Gomez to score the tying run. An illegal pitch by Taylor forced in Thomason and put Southeastern up, 3-2.
Texas State knotted the score off freshman pitcher
Elise Kittrell in the top of the third. Hernandez reached on an error by Morse and scored on a sacrifice fly by Leah Boatright.
Southeastern took the lead back in the bottom of the fifth inning. Michelle Duhe reached on a one-out single and advanced to second on a wild pitch by Hall. After Hall struck out Gomez, Thomason ripped a double into the right centerfield gap to plate Duhe and give Southeastern a 4-3 advantage.
Morse (0-6) relieved Kittrell in the fifth and held Texas State hitless for her first 2.1 innings of work. However, with one out in the seventh inning, Hernandez knotted the score with a home run just inside the left field foul pole.
Southeastern threatened to end the game in the bottom of the seventh inning. Singles by senior
Amber Freeman and Gomez put runners at the corners with two outs. Hall battled back to pop up Thomason to send the game to extra innings.
Texas State used a two-out rally in the top of the eighth inning. Alysse Rother started the threat with a single and consecutive walks by Allison Snow and Hall loaded the bases. Morse then forced Tello to hit a routine grounder, but Freeman booted it, allowing the go-ahead run to score.
A one-out single by Ladnier was all Southeastern could manage in the bottom of the eighth. Hall recovered to retire junior
Katie Duhe and sophomore
Lauren Coniglio to complete the doubleheader sweep.
