TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama's JaMychal Green scored a game-high 16 points and grabbed 15 rebounds and the Crimson Tide used suffocating defense to defeat Southeastern Louisiana, 59-38, Wednesday at Coleman Coliseum.

Trevor Releford added 10 points for Alabama (5-5), which used a 12-0 run in the first half to pull away and snap a two-game losing streak. Southeastern, which visits Vanderbilt on Saturday, fell to 5-3 overall.

Southeastern, which entered the game averaging 80.7 points per game, turned in one of its poorest shooting performances in school history making 12 of 59 shots (20.3 percent) while going 4-for-18 (22.2 percent) from behind the 3-point line. The Lions, who trailed 36-23 at halftime, held Alabama to 9-for-24 from the floor in the second half but could not rally as they went 4-for-32 (12.5 percent) in the final 20 minutes.

Senario Hillman gave the Crimson Tide an early 3-0 lead before the Lions tied the game when David Ndoumba completed a three-point play at the 19:15 mark of the first half. A 3-pointer by Releford gave Alabama a 6-3 advantage it would not relinquish before Green hit a jumper, Charles Hankerson added a 3-pointer and a jumper and Green scored on a layup for a 15-3 lead with 14:35 left.

Southeastern closed to within 27-17 on a Ndoumba layup, but Releford answered with a 3-pointer and Charvez Davis sank a pair of free throws to push the Alabama lead to 32-17 with 3:07 left in the first half.

A jumper by freshman Antonnio Benton with 8:27 remaining in the game closed the deficit to 54-35 but the Lions missed their final 13 shots while Alabama went 1-for-9 in the same span.

Gary Dixon led Southeastern with 11 points while Ndoumba added nine. Ndoumba and Benton grabbed six rebounds each for Southeastern, which held Alabama to 21-for-50 (42.0 percent) from the floor.
