HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's basketball team returns to action on Saturday when it plays host to Loyola University at the University Center.
Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. The game can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9) and on the internet at www.LionSports.net.
Playing in its first game at home since opening the season on Nov. 12, Southeastern (2-1) split its two-game road trip capped with a 74-66 win over Jacksonville State on Monday. The Lions used an 11-0 run late in the second half to turn a two-point deficit into a nine-point lead with 4:11 remaining.
Gary Dixon scored 18 points to lead four players in double figures for Southeastern with
Trent Hutchin,
David Ndoumba and
Roosevelt Johnson scoring 10 points each. Johnson hauled down a career-high 10 rebounds in recording his first career double-double while Ndoumba grabbed nine boards in narrowly missing his first double-double of the season.
Hutchin leads Southeastern, and is ninth in the Southland Conference, in scoring at 16.3 points per game while shooting 48 percent (10-for-21) from behind the 3-point line. Dixon is next in scoring for Southeastern at 13.0 points with
Brandon Fortenberry (10.3),
Rodney Jones (8.3), Johnson (8.3) and Ndoumba (6.0) next for the Lions, who average 73.7 points per game while allowing 67.7.
Ndoumba leads Southeastern with 7.0 rebounds per game followed by Johnson (5.0).
Loyola (4-2), which will count the Southeastern game as an exhibition, is led by Ryan Brock's 21.4 points per game with Corey Gray (18.0) and Robert Lovaglio (10.8) averaging in double figures for the Wolfpack. Lovaglio leads LU in rebounds at 6.7 boards per contest with Brock leading the team with 5.4 assists.
After facing Loyola, Southeastern will close out its brief homestand facing Dillard on Wednesday in a 7 p.m. contest before playing its next seven games on the road.
