NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Stephen F. Austin's Jeremy Moses continued his assault on the NCAA record books as he threw five first-half touchdown passes – three of them to Cordell Roberson – and the No. 7-ranked Lumberjacks erupted for a 42-7 halftime lead and defeated Southeastern Louisiana, 51-14, in a Southland Conference game Saturday afternoon at Homer Bryce Stadium.

Moses finished 17-for-29 for 271 yards and five touchdowns, moving into fifth-place with 118 career touchdown passes – one shy of equaling the mark of former Alcorn State passer Steve McNair. Moses moved into eighth-place on the FCS all-time passing list with 12,572 yards.

Southeastern (2-8, 1-5 Southland) took the opening possession and drove 60 yards in 10 plays with Tyler Beatty connecting with Kory Theodore for a 19-yard touchdown pass and giving the Lions a quick 7-0 lead.

SFA (8-2, 5-1 Southland) responded on its initial drive to tie the game at 7-7 as Moses hit Roberson on a 27-yard TD strike to cap a 10-play, 75-yard drive.

Jabara Williams picked off a deflected pass from Beatty at the SFA 13 and returned it 35 yards, setting up a five-play, 52-yard scoring drive for the Lumberjacks that resulted in a 14-yard scoring pass from Moses to Roberson.

The Lumberjacks added a third touchdown in the opening period after Weekend Saurit picked off a Beatty pass and rumbled 27 yards to the SLU 9 before Moses found Anthony Foster in the end zone two plays later for a 21-7 lead with 1:57 left.

“I thought we played hard early and had a good opening drive that resulted in a touchdowns,” Southeastern head coach Mike Lucas said. “We had momentum early in the game, but you can't give them (SFA) excellent field position off turnovers. We're going to have to come back and regroup in our final game next week at Nicholls.”

Moses added a 27-yard scoring pass to Kris Lott in the second quarter before Romonte Hampton scored on a seven-yard run and Moses hit Roberson for a 29-yard scoring pass with 25 seconds remaining in the half.

SFA added a safety in the third quarter when Kenneth Charles and Corey Hill combined to sack Brian Young in the end zone and on the ensuing free kick, Gralyn Crawford went 80 yards for a touchdown – his third kick return for a touchdown and fourth special teams score.

Southeastern's Simmie Yarborough caught eight passes for 65 yards and a touchdown, equaling Felton Huggins' school-record of 162 catches from 2003-05. Young came off the bench for Beatty and completed 18 of 35 passes for 137 yards and a touchdown. Sam Fairley added 62 yards rushing for Southeastern while Tommy Connors totaled 12 tackles with a forced fumble and fumble recovery.

Re'Keem Wilson added an interception for the Lions while Tay Alford had nine tackles and Stephen Pieczynski eight stops with a sack.

Southeastern will conclude the season on Thursday when it travels to face arch-rival Nicholls State in the annual River Bell Classic at John L. Guidry Stadium. The game, which will be regionally-televised on the Southland Conference Network, is scheduled for a 6 p.m. kickoff.
