HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana freshman forward
Maiya Cooper recorded her first hat trick and the Lady Lions scored eight goals in the first 26 minutes on the way to a 10-0 victory over Alcorn State in non-conference action at the STYSA Soccer Fields Thursday afternoon.
The shutout victory was the fifth of the season for Southeastern (5-3), which scored in double figures for the fifth time in school history and set a new single-match school record with 12 assists. Alcorn State dropped to 0-5 overall despite 11 saves from goalkeeper Victoria Moss in the first half.

Cooper posted the 22nd hat trick in school history and finished the match with three goals and two assists, giving her eight points – the second-highest single match point total in school history. Santana added two goals and three assists, giving her seven points – tied for the fourth-highest single match point total in school history.
Senior
Gloria Burkhart matched Santana's match high total with three assists. Burkhart and Santana are the ninth and 10th student-athletes in the program's history with three or more assists in a match and the first two teammates to accomplish the feat in the same match.

Lacey Bockhaus posted her fourth shutout of the year and the 13th shutout of her career, finishing with two save.
Santana and Wallace continued to make climbs up the school's career scoring lists. With 48 career points, Wallace has moved past former Lady Lion Cory Cochrane into seventh place in school history, while Santana's 41 points move her into a tie for ninth place with former Lady Lion Danielle Shank on the career points list.
Wallace's goal allowed her to move into a tie for eighth place with former Southeastern player
Kristin McDonald with 16 career goals, while Santana's 13 scores are tied for 10th in school history with Mayer and Shank. Wallace's 16 assists rank eighth on the school's career list, while Santana moved into a tie with Shank for ninth place on the school's career list with 15 assists.
Southeastern will return to action on Sunday at 1 p.m., hosting Alabama State. The match is scheduled to be held at the Southeastern Soccer Complex, but preliminary arrangements have been made to once again play at the STYSA Fields if poor field conditions warrant.
