HAMMOND –
After rallying from a seven run deficit on Wednesday night, the Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team (6-3) rides a three game winning streak into its 2009 Southland Conference opener.  The Lions, winners of five of their last six, will look to continue a streak of impressive play when they visit defending regular season SLC champion Texas-San Antonio for a three-game series beginning Friday night.

Southeastern brings a red hot offense into game one of the weekend series.  The Lions have scored at least eight runs in each of their last six games, including a 22 run output against Sacred Heart on Sunday.

Senior left fielder Brandon Street leads the way for Southeastern.  The Columbus, Ga. native boasts a .421 batting average with 12 RBI to pace the Lions in both categories.

Sophomore center fielder Cass Hargis will try to keep a steak of strong play in tact.  The Meraux, La. native will look to extend his eight-game hitting streak after going 1-for-5 with his first home run of the season in Wednesday's 8-7 win over Southern.

Senior shortstop Ty Summerlin, who is in second place on the school's all-time career hits list, also looks to remain a key contributor to the Lion cause while chasing a milestone.  After a 2-for-4 night on Wednesday, Summerlin has 206 career hits to his name, just four shy of Mackey Waguespack's all-time school record of 210.

While the Lions count on their lineup to provide plenty of run support over the weekend; Southeastern's pitching staff will be charged with keeping one of the most potent offenses in the conference in check.

Junior right hander Ryan Boudreaux will get the start on Friday night.  The Gonzales, La. native heads into the series opener after improving to 1-1 his last time out.  Boudreaux limited Sacred Heart to four unearned runs on four hits over 6.1 innings in his first win of the season.

Sophomore right hander Brandon Efferson (1-1, 6.23 ERA) will get the start on Saturday.  The Zachary High School product will look to return to the form that saw him limit defending Ohio Valley Conference champion Eastern Illinois to just two earned runs on ten hits while striking out nine in a complete game win on Feb. 21.

First pitch for Friday night is set for 6 p.m.  Live stats and streaming audio will be available online at www.LionSports.net , and the play-by-play is available in Hammond on KSLU 90.9 FM.
