HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's basketball team will look to remain unbeaten at home when it faces Spring Hill College Tuesday evening at the University Center.
The game, which is the first of a doubleheader that will conclude with the Southeastern women's team against UNO, is scheduled to tip off at 5:30 p.m. The game can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9) and on the internet at www.LionSports.net.
Southeastern (4-1), which has won two consecutive games, has won all of its contests on its home floor where it has outscored its opponents by 24.5 points per game. The Lions posted an 81-49 victory over Millsaps College on Saturday as
Damon Forest came off the bench to score a game-high 20 points.
Patrick Sullivan added 17 points and nine rebounds for the Lions, who built a 26-point lead at halftime and led by as many as 32 in the game.
Robert Tibbs recorded his first career double-double for Southeastern, scoring 13 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, while
Gary Dixon added 12 points in the win.
Sullivan, the Lions' all-time leader in blocked shots, leads Southeastern in scoring at 16.6 points per game and in rebounds at 7.4 per contest. Forest is next in scoring for the Lions at 15.0 points per contest while newcomer
Trent Hutchin averages 11.6 points.
Dixon, who is shooting 47 percent from behind the 3-point line, averages 8.6 points for Southeastern with
Brandon Fortenberry (8.5), Tibbs (6.3),
Jason Marks (5.6) and
Rodney Jones (4.3) following.
Southeastern enters the game against NAIA member Spring Hill College (3-1) averaging 82.8 points per game while allowing 66.2. The Lions have been successful from the floor on offense, converting on 49 percent of their attempts, while the Southeastern defense has been stingy holding opponents to 38 percent from the floor and 30 percent from behind the 3-point arc.
SHC is led by Marcus Coleman, who is scoring 17.0 points per game, followed by Antonio Burch (14.0) and Owen McNally (11.5). Chris Dees, Jr. (11.0) and Nick Brown (10.3) are the Badgers' other players averaging in double figures with McNally pacing the team with 7.5 rebounds per game.
