HAMMOND - After dropping a 3-0 decision at South Alabama its last time out, the Southeastern Louisiana University women's volleyball team (3-4) will try to return to the form that saw the Lady Lions win three of their previous four matches when the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns (3-6) visit Hammond on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in the University Center.
"I think we should be competitive against this team," head coach Julie Langford said. "They've had some ups and downs and they lost some matches to the hurricane (Gustav), so they're still trying to find themselves. We traded film with them and they don't really have a set rotation, which makes them hard to scout. But, if we get those consistent performances we were talking about, we have a chance."
The Lady Lions will be looking to improve to 2-1 at home on Tuesday. However, Southeastern, which went 3-1 from Sept. 12-19 to get back to the .500 mark, will be focusing on improving its attack in order to do so.
"There were times over the weekend, in Friday's win over Jackson State, and even Saturday's loss to South Alabama, that we were passing well and hitting efficiently," Langford said. "The focus is on being much more aggressive and getting our all our hitters clicking at the same time. If we're hitting on all cylinders, and we've seen that a couple of times this year, then we can start going on runs and taking control of matches."
Game time for the Lady Lions and Ragin' Cajuns is set for 7 p.m. at the University Center in Hammond. Admission is free to all fans. Live stats will be available on

Tuesday's match marks the final non-conference tuneup for Southeastern before the Lady Lions take on Nicholls State on Friday in the Southland Conference opener for both teams.
