HAMMOND - Southeastern Louisiana freshman
Meaghan Krawczyk broke a scoreless tie with a goal with just over three minutes left in overtime to give the Lady Lions a 1-0 win on Senior Day Sunday afternoon at the Southeastern Soccer Complex.
The win was the third straight for the Lady Lions (9-4-1, 3-3 SLC), helping Southeastern get back into the Southland Conference Tournament race. "We knocked on the door all match long, but just couldn't finish," Southeasterh head coach
Blake Hornbuckle said. "We're very proud of the way our players kept fighting.
Natalie Santana played a great ball on the winning goal and Meaghan showed poise and put it in the net. We're very pleased to send our seniors out with a big win."
The Lady Lions posted their eighth shutout of the season in the win, as
Lacey Bockhaus held UCA scoreless and made a huge save late in the second half. Southeastern has outscored its opponents, 41-9, this season.
On the match-winning goal, Santana lobbed the ball over the UCA defense and Krawczyk outran the Bears, settling the ball and powering the goal in from short range.
