HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team picked up a run-rule victory over Alcorn State, 11-1, Wednesday in non-conference action at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.
Southeastern (25-17) took an early lead, scoring a pair of first-inning runs on one hit.
Alex Perry extended the lead over Alcorn (8-33) in the second, launching a solo homer to deep left-center field. The one-out blast was his team-leading 12
th of the season.
A pair of doubles, sandwiched around a pair of walks with three wild pitches mixed in, led to three runs in the fourth.
Justin Williams drove in the final run of the inning with a double to right-center.
SLU batted around in the sixth, scoring five runs. Williams delivered a two-run single down the right-field line. After a couple of Alcorn errors led to two unearned runs, pinch-hitter
Gavin Panks rapped a two-out single through the right side to plate the final run.
Nick Gisclair (2-1) earned the win with 1.1 scoreless innings in relief. Braves' starting pitcher Garrett Oswald (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing two runs in 0.2 innings of work.
Perry (2-for-3) and Williams (2-for-4) produced multiple hits for the Lions.

SLU wraps up the four-game homestand this weekend, hosting Houston Christian in a weekend Southland Conference series. Games against the Huskies are scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, 6 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
Each Friday during the season, kids 12 and under will be able to stand alongside their favorite Lion for the National Anthem for Friday Funday.
Saturday is Baseball Bingo at the Ballpark. Each Saturday during the season, fans can grab a bingo card from the marketing and promotions table in the concourse and play along. The first 25 valid bingos win a prize from Southeastern Athletics.
Sunday is both Military Appreciation Day and Alumni Day. The Lions will celebrate the tradition and pride of our baseball family. Former players, coaches, and fans are invited to return to the field where the memories were made, share stories, and witness the next generation of Lions in action.
Also, each Sunday during the season, the Lions pay tribute to those who serve with free admission to the ballpark. One complimentary ticket will be given to those with a valid military ID.
