SLU Runs Nation's Longest Winning Streak to 25 Games, Sets New SLC Standard with Twinbill Sweep at SFA

Southeastern (39-9, 20-0 SLC) breaks 32-year old record for longest win streak in Southland history

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The nation's longest current winning streak became the longest in the over four decades of Southland Conference softball with the two-time reigning SLC Tournament champion Southeastern Louisiana University softball team's doubleheader sweep of SFA Tuesday evening at Nacogdoches High School.

Southeastern (39-9, 20-0 SLC) extended its historic run to 25 games, besting the previous league mark of 24 set by former Southland member UL Lafayette in 1994. After the two wins over SFA (25-21, 9-11 SLC), SLU is one win away from clinching no less than a share of the SLC regular season championship and two wins away from its first-ever outright Southland regular season crown.

Southeastern gutted out a 2-1 victory in the series opener. Shelby Morris led a 10-hit attack with a 4-for-4 showing, as she and Maria Detillier both drove in runs. Hallie Burns (15-3) allowed two hits in four scoreless innings of relief, as she and Haley Crawford combined to hold SFA to four hits.

The Lions collected 12 hits in a 5-2 win in the nightcap. Morris, Detillier, Brilee Ford and Colleen Kulivan each had two hits apiece to lead SLU. Macie LaRue (5-2) struck out five and did not allow an earned run in 4.1 innings of work, while Cera Blanchard allowed two hits in 2.2 innings of shutout relief to earn her team-high third save of 2026.

The series wraps Wednesday at 3 p.m. Live stats, provided by the host Ladyjacks, will be accessible via the softball schedule page at www.LionSports.net.

Game One – Southeastern 2, SFA 1
SFA scored first, as Adelyn Becerra doubled home Ellie Vance in the bottom of the first inning to put the Ladyjacks up, 1-0.

Southeastern got on the board in the top of the third inning. Shenita Tucker led off the frame with a triple and scored on an RBI single by Morris. One out later, Detillier doubled home Chloe Magee to put the Lions on top, 2-1.

From there, Burns and SFA starter Amelia Hatthorn (8-5) matched zeroes with Southeastern leaving the bases loaded twice. Burns faced one over the minimum in her four scoreless innings of relief to improve to 8-0 in Southland Conference play.

Game Two – Southeastern 5, SFA 2
Southeastern took the early lead against SFA starter Crimson Bryant in the top of the first inning. Cydnee Schneider's league-high 16th double plated the two first runs, then Schneider scored one out later on an SFA throwing error to give SLU a 3-0 advantage.

The Ladyjacks took advantage of a two-out Lion error to get on the board in the bottom of the first inning, but Southeastern answered right back in the top of the second inning. Morris singled home Colleen Kulivan, then scored on a Magee ground out to put SLU up, 5-1.

SFA pulled closer in the bottom of the fourth inning thanks to a pair of Southeastern errors, cutting the lead to 5-2 with another unearned run.  LaRue and Blanchard would not let the Ladyjacks get any closer, combining to hold SFA scoreless over the final three innings to secure Southeastern's seventh straight Southland Conference victory.
