LAFAYETTE, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's tennis team fell at UL Lafayette, 7-0, in nonconference action Tuesday night at Cajun Courts.
Southeastern fell to 9-4 overall with the loss, while UL Lafayette improved to 10-3 this spring with the victory.
In doubles play, SLU's
Bente Bierma and
Paige Duncan (5-4) earned a 6-1 victory over the Ragin' Cajun duo of Martina Della Gora and Safia Zenbi on the No. 1 court. However, UL Lafayette responded with 6-3 wins on the other two doubles courts to take a 1-0 lead.
In singles action, the Ragin' Cajuns won all six matches with two being settled in third-set super tie-breakers. Della Gora outlasted SLU's
Mariam Makashvili, 6-7 (2-7), 6-4, 10-3, on No. 3. On court 5, Duncan dropped a 6-2, 3-6, 10-6 decision to Rocio Amoros Navarro. The other four singles matches finished in straight sets.
